Plants we love – Part 2

Hibiscus, Lavender, and Red Clover

Here you will find Herbs we have foraged and learned about. We love using these herbs for our Soap infusions. We also enjoy them for teas, oxymels, rinses, and infusing into balms.

Hibiscus

When you think of Hibiscus, colorful bright flowers come to mind. While it is an exotic plant that’s stunningly beautiful, it also contains antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and malic acid, all of which greatly benefit the skin.

  • It protects skin from environmental aggressors: Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants that protect skin from free radical damage, preventing the appearance of premature aging.
  •  It’s deeply moisturizing: Hibiscus boasts a naturally high mucilage content, a sticky substance produced by plants to help them retain water. Applying Hibiscus topically enhances the skin’s ability to retain moisture too, leaving it feeling hydrated, soft and supple.
  •  It soothes sensitive skin: Hibiscus also has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps to soothe skin inflammation and irritation.
  •  It has anti-aging benefits: Hibiscus flower helps prevent enzymes from breaking down elastin, the protein that is responsible for skin’s firmness and plumpness. The result? Skin looks healthier and younger for longer.
  • Egyptians used Hibiscus tea to lower body temperature, treat heart and nerve diseases, and as a diuretic to increase urine production. In Africa, tea was used to treat constipation, cancer, liver disease, and cold symptoms. Pulp made from the leaves was applied to the skin to heal wounds.
  • Protect & Boost your immune system. Lower cholesterol & manage blood pressure. Support proper digestion.

This makes for a great soap, and an antiaging topical. As a tea its a great substitute for elderberry, to help fight a viral infection. A fun way to use it is to sweeten with honey and make popsicle sticks.

Lavender

Although ancient this plant has made a name for itself in our modern society.

Lavender has relaxing aromatic properties that are great to help clam and soothe nerves. Even simply diffusing the herb in the air brings a sense of peace to one’s environment. It contains natural anti inflammatory properties making it great topically or internally. There are many applications for Lavender. You can string a bouquet together and hang upside down to dry in your home. Allowing for a passive diffusion. You can add the dried leaves to a satchel for a dream pillow, or to a potpourri bowl . Use tea bags for an eye soother remedy. Lavender is a great addition to food, smoothies, or even a yummy coconut ice cream. A popsicle stick made from Lavender is great for soothing sore throats as well. You can also enjoy it in a bath with Epsom salt or a foot soak. Lastly a traditionally made cup of tea can always help calm nerves and restore balance to your being.

Since biblical times, it has been highly regarded for its fragrance and medicinal benefits.

Lavender combined with the lactic acid in goat milk has also been shown to promote better skin tone and assist in lightening dark spots. which is why we made a beautiful lavender goats milk soap.

With natural anti-inflammatory properties it is successful in soothing painful sunburnt skin, dermatitis and eczema.

Proven to shrink blood vessels and minimize redness, lavender is still gentle enough for rosacea sufferers to use.

Its ability to minimize our skin’s reaction to ultraviolet light also means that sun related flair ups could be reduced. Some studies suggest it also reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

We love using Lavender in our soaps. We extract it into Olive oil, for topicals and soaps. And then add Lavender Essential Oil as well. Our current favorite is our Activated Creamy Lavender Soap. We used raw cows milk, and activated Charcoal to really boost the nourishing and detoxifying effects.

Plants we love – Part 1

Golden Rod, Feverfew, & Mugwort

Golden Rod
Mugwort

Golden Rod

As a tea this herb is a detoxifier, sore throat reliever, effective in the prevention of urinary tract infections, and It can even help relieve muscle pain. Infuse it into local honey and Apple Cider Vinegar and you have a supportive “Oxymel” to help alleviate allergies. (most people think they are allergic to Golden Rod. However it’s almost always, Ragweed, which looks similar and can grow together. If your one of those that believe your allergic to Golden Rod, rethink this plant. A Golden Rod “Oxymel” is also great as an expectorant, in other words it facilitates the secretion or expulsion of phlegm, and mucus. A Golden Rod tea compress can be used to help alleviate a fever. And a poultice can be made to treat wounds.

Mugwort

Most known for inducing “Lucid Dreaming”. Abilities to stimulate inspiration & creativity at a subconscious level. Invigorates circulation and warms the body. Soothes muscles, joint aches and other related pains. Helps to improve mood and relaxation. reduces anxiety, depression, and menstrual pain. Helps strengthen the immune system. Contains Vitamin A, K, E, Potassium, Iron, & calcium. Stimulates gastric juices and bile secretion. It is also used as a liver tonic to promote circulation, and as a sedative.

Feverfew

This ancient herb has been used for various applications. It’s most known for the prevention of migraine headaches and fevers. This herb is one of those I like to call “stay with it”. It’s not an instant fix if you have a migraine. Although some alleviation may occur as it is anti inflammatory. This herb is best used daily before the onset of the migraine. Feverfew is known to reduce blood pressure. Due to its anti inflammatory properties it reduces stomach irritation which allows stimulations of appetite. It can also reduce sensation of dizziness and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Like Golden Rod, feverfew is great for seasonal allergies. Be aware this herb is not appropriate for children or pregnant & nursing moms.

Feverfew

I am not a doctor, nor do I claim to be one. When introducing new herbal applications into your life please seek your practioner of choice. Especially due to allergies. Herbal applications are unique to each individual, and can take time to be effective when taken internally. For more understanding on this, read my disclaimer & waiver, thanks.

🍄 FAQ

Buy Amanita Muscaria

In this🍄 FAQ I have  gathered up the most common questions I get asked about The Amanita Mushrooms I sell. Hope this is helpful!

Are 🍄  (Amanita Mushrooms) Legal?

YES!

In the United States, possessing, selling, cultivating, and consuming Amanita Mushrooms (The Fly Agaric) is legal except in the state of Louisiana where it is only legal to have as an ornamental.

Can you tell me more about commonly reported effects when using Amanita Muscaria?

NO!

The FDA lists The Fly Agarics as  poison.

Since, I’m a legitimate tax paying business and not a licensed physician, I will never recommend this for internal use.

Nor, will I give anyone dosing advice or make any medical claims about this mushroom.

What Do you use the Fly Agaric for if they are not for human consumption?

I love infusing them into my soaps and serums.

Serums are handy for homemade infusions.

I use them for mystical, magical, & meditative purposes.

I believe in a whole body focused experience.

Just holding this folklore filled mushroom helps to thin the veil of the supernatural,

allowing you to “Be Beyond, and Amazing”

They also make a great garland around your Christmas tree which is the, traditional, historical form of celebrating the winter solstice.

Can you tell me more about decarboxylation?

Due to the Ibotenic Acid found in the Fly Agaric, I believe in the necessity of Decarboxylation.

Decarboxylation is the process of using heat, time, and an acid to remove a carboxyl group in order to change the chemical structure of the compound.

I start off with Cracker Drying the mushrooms in my dehydrator @115F.

This creates a 30% conversion of Ibotenic Acid to Muscimol.

I  then make two variations.

The Sun Serum Amanita Muscaria Tincture, which is not decarboxylated any further.

And The Moon Serum, which is a Fully Decarboxylated Amanita Muscaria Liquid Extract.

In order for me to achieve full decarboxylation

My fly agarics are placed in a 2.7ph water bath for 3 hours at 190F.

Why did I start selling Fly Agaric`s?

Truth be told it was the poor customer service, poor consistency, and poor quality.

I’ve received them sun bleached, burned, broken, and dirty.

I went months waiting for my product. And even once, had to hunt down my vendor!

I wanted to take those fears away. provide a quality product with great customer service.

No awaiting customs, and long distance orders. No more using wire transfers.

There is so much more to learn and explore about the Fly Agarics, You’ll find articles, link outs, and more on each individual product.

Don’t stop there though.

Head over to Face Book (Amanita Muscaria Science & Magic), there are some pretty cool mushroom nerds on these platforms ready to share the most interesting folklore tales about the Fly Agarics, and of course so much more.
