Awakening Roots exists to clear away fear and misunderstanding, and to share Amanita in a way that is natural, respectful, and true.
Awakening Roots began in 2019 as a small wellness shop making castile herbal soaps, wild foraged herbal balms, and other fun herbal remedies. Since MarLucia is a Certified Herbalist, making different concoctions and learning about plant wisdom was (still is) her jam. But everything changed when our family needed an alternative for sleep — something that wasn’t a pharmaceutical on the “deadliest pills” list, wasn’t alcohol that poisons the body, and wasn’t cannabis, which still carries stigma and restrictions, although a powerful ally for those that chose it.
That’s when Amanita came to us as a gift. We discovered how deeply it supported our lives — but trying to source it was frustrating and unreliable. We faced high overseas fees, shipments of the wrong mushrooms, and even near scams. We realized this wasn’t just our struggle — others were searching too.
So, we shifted. What began as a side to our herbal shop became our true calling: offering Amanita with compassion, transparency, and respect.
Not only do we want to offer beautiful specimens and ready to go options. But we also want to offer Understanding.
