Connecting Earth & Humanity

Our soaps are Hand Crafted, from start to finish. Wild foraged herbs and mushrooms are hand-picked across the country and infused into Olive oil, which is then transformed into Castile Soap. We also offer dried mushrooms and other dried herbs so you can create your own magic.

Know exactly what’s in your personal care products.

Know who made your personal care products

Know that safe, beautiful notes of plants, flower petals, and mushrooms are the center of our products.

what does SAFE mean ?

We consider every ingredient we source, offer and use. Including the dyes/colorant you may see in our personal care products.  All dyes are natural and come from plant, seeds, herbs, bark, etc. In the Seek And Find Experience you will become aware of the tools that are safe, suppurative and aligning with your whole body focused approach to Awakening your Roots.

Our SAFE products are naturally antibacterial, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic. Please be aware If you have allergies to certain plants.

A tip about Handcrafted Soap Bars:

Do not leave your soap sitting in a puddle of water. Our Whole Body Focused Soaps are an all natural product, we do not use fillers or toxic preservatives. The plants used to dye our products are live and active. To keep the integrity of your soap, please allow your soap to air dry between uses. Here are some great drying techniques: use a soap holder with slats/holes, a sisal soap saver bag, or place on a dry washcloth.

Do Our Soaps contain lye?

All soap, including Big Bus That’s Us Soap, is made using lye.

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is used to make bars, and potassium hydroxide (KOH) is used for liquid soap. Even transparent “glycerin” soap and “melt and pour” soaps are made using lye. (Transparent glycerin soaps are made from oil and lye, like opaque soaps, except that a sugar-alcohol compound is added to maintain transparency. “Making soap” by melting them and pouring into molds is actually just reshaping the soap. The original block purchased was made using lye.) In a properly produced soap, lye is a raw ingredient, but there is no lye that remains in the final product. All lye is consumed in the saponification process and presents no danger to you. Superfatting further assures that all lye is consumed. Any company that claims their soap is not made with lye is either promoting false information or doesn’t understand the chemistry behind soap.

Do our herbal soaps contain SLS?

No. SLS (sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate) and other surfactants are often added to soaps to increase lather quality or cut costs. They are commonly found in soaps, including many marketed as natural soaps, as well as glycerin soaps, liquid soaps, and shampoos. As synthetic compounds, SLS and other surfactants dry out your skin and, for many people, cause irritation. At Big Bus That’s Us, we use neither SLS nor any other surfactants. We don’t believe in cost-cutting short cuts. Instead, we prefer to focus on making a high quality soap that doesn’t depend on surfactants for its lather. Keep in mind that SUDS don’t equal clean. You will clearly begin to notice how a true soap bar should feel and leave your skin feeling.

What are the plants we infuse into our SAFE personal care products?

We are always experimenting, with different combinations. I suggest you read The Plants We Love Part 1, Part 2, and keep a look out for more write ups.

These articles are a small tool for educating yourself on the benefits of the plants we harvest to infuse into our soaps. Remember the name of this game is Seek and Find Experience, If you have a favorite plant/mushroom/element you think I should infuse reach out.

As a quick reference though, our most commonly used plants are Lavender, Prunella, and Mugwort.
