My time in Tennessee allowed for some much needed reflection. The Little River, was crisp, and clear.
I wanted to make a soap, that reflected the need for peace and promoted rejuvenation. Let’s take a closer look at the simple ingredients I used to handcraft this Lavender & Coffee Soap bar.
Known for it’s wonderful skin and hair benefits, promoting hair growth and is rich in antioxidants.
Let’s take a look at it’s
Official Name: Alkanna tinctoria

According to board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Debra Jaliman, lavender contains a slew of skin care benefits, including antioxidants, which can detox the skin and reduce inflammation.
Relaxing, calming, and beautiful, lavender is a highly cherished herb for aromatherapy, bath products, and massage oils!
One sniff of a few drops of lavender essential oil, and its scent will chase away any fear, stress, and worry you may have. I hope this soap creates that same energy.
While coffee is most widely used as a beverage, it’s also gaining a reputation as an alternative remedy for the skin. This is thanks to its antioxidants, which include phenols that help fight free radicals that can lead to skin damage. In fact, the American Chemical Society has found that coffee is the most popular source of antioxidants in the United States — even more so than other antioxidant-rich beverages, such as tea and wine.
In terms of magical properties let’s look at where coffee lands.
Element: Fire, Earth, Air
- Blockage Removal: Bathe with a scrub, in a bath, or drink a potion made of this bean to remove energy blockages in your life, aura, or body.
- Boosts Spell Power: Add the brewed drink to your spells to help them manifest better and stronger. (this is why we add it our magical soaps)
- Chakra Booster: Bathe with a bean scrub or in a brewed bath to empower your chakras. You can also meditate with a bean rested on or near your chakra to help empower it.
- Curse Removal: Cleanse with the brewed liquid, sip a cup, practice aromatherapy, or add the grounds to your spells to break a curse.
These are some fun ways to consider how coffee can enhance your life.
Why Olive Oil?
Olive Oil soap, otherwise called Castile soap provides a delicate balance for your skin. It also has a nice consistency that isn’t too hard to rinse off your skin after using it.
If you have sensitive skin, you’ll likely want to avoid your usual store-brand soaps. Often these are full of ingredients that you can’t even pronounce, yet you still need to wash your skin. Fewer components in a bar of soap mean that the chances are decreased that you’ll suffer a reaction. Castile soap is a non-toxic alternative for people who suffer from sensitive skin.
The soap contains natural antibacterial properties that will help kill the bacteria that can cause acne.
Castile soap doesn’t contain any detergents that will strip your hair or scalp of its beneficial oils. It also won’t dry out your scalp. Your hair will be clean and soft.
Whether you avoid animal-based products for ethics or religious reasons, Castile soap is 100% suitable for you to use. Since it’s made from only olive oil, it contains no animal-based products that are often in many store-bought cleansers.
Some History about olive oil
In some Egyptian mummies, archaeologists have found olive branches used as a symbol of protection. Something that both Greeks and Romans would inherit culturally. Let us remember that in the Greek Olympics the winning athletes were rewarded with an olive crown. The olive tree and its oil were a luxury product in Ancient Rome. Only the wealthy classes could enjoy perfuming themselves with its oil or burning the branches of the tree to protect and purify a specific environment.
The mythical Celtic druids also knew the magical properties of the olive tree. For them, each person was identified with a tree. The olive tree in particular symbolized peace, joy, tenderness, and kindness.
We can even see it more clearly in the Bible. In it, there are numerous references to the magical character of the olive tree. For example, on the twig of this tree that the dove carried in its beak to deliver to Noah after the flood, or the last night before Jesus Christ was crucified on the Mount of Olives.
So as far as I am concerned between the amazing antibacterial benefits, and the simplicity of this sought after luxurious oil, it most definitely is a win in my book, for bathing. All of these beautiful components make a simple recipe into a magical soap that transcends us into connecting with traditions of the past.
I hope you love this Lavender & Coffee soap. May it connect you, ground you, elevate your frequency and most of all clean you!
