Have you ever tried Cold BREW COFFEE??

Not only is it delicious but it has some great benefits!!

In recent years, a slew of research has found coffee actually is very good for your heart and other aspects of your health.

Before I get into the benefits I should start by saying DARK ROAST has more health benefits then any other roast.

Cold brewing Dark Roast coffee decreases the inflammation that is caused when its heated up. In addition it’s not as Acidic. So if your prone to Acid reflux or have GERD the darker the roast the better.

And Cold Brewing it will help eliminate the CRASH you feel when you drink regular brewed coffee.

The #1 reason I love it, is the NO Energy it uses to make.

Since were Fulltime RVers finding tricks to conserve energy is important! Although being Green can be beneficial to anyone.

Here are the benefits of Cold Brew at a glance.

  1. Improved Control of Gastric Acid Secretion, (no acid reflux)
  2. Less Acid in Coffee Overall
  3. Increased Amounts of Antioxidants, (Chlorogenic Acid)
  4. Less cafestol and kahweol
  5. Lower caffeine content, (this means you can drink more of it)

So let’s talk about how to make it.

I love these Mason jars.

I also found this awesome set on amazon a total WANT in my near future.

I have 2 jars that I designated for coffee life.

1 cold brews. The other I strain into.

When I’m done straining I just make another batch immediately. So I’m never out!

I use an old dri fit tshirt I cut up to strain it with/cheese cloth would work fine as well.

I added 8-10tbsps of Dark Roast Coffee.

Then Add water to fill about 8 cups.

Cover, write something cute on it, and WAIT.

Wait for at least 12 hours but 24 is the goal. You will notice how much lighter the cold Brewing coffee is before its completely EXTRACTED the GOODS. Feel free to give it a good shake anytime you think about it, don’t worry if you don’t it will still do the trick!

That’s it!! Hope I made that as simple as possible.

We drink it BLACK. sugar and milk aren’t good for you anyways.

You can also super Boost your Dark Roast by adding spices to it and if your big on needing cream you can BLEND coconut oil it gives it this amazing creamy effect.

By the way coffee is a carrier. So when you add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger you can truly get the healing benefits of the spices.

If you add coconut oil you get the gut healing benefits as well.

If your not convinced by me here are some links you can check out

Heres an awesome excerpt taken from link below..

smartypants Harold McGee, food science guru, explains:

“Hot water also cooks as it extracts, forcing chemical reactions that transform some of the extracted substances into other things, and driving some aroma substances out of the liquid. Cold water, in contrast, extracts more slowly and selectively, produces a simpler extract, and doesn’t change the original flavor substances as much.”

Another note on this, cold brew can last up to 2 weeks in your refrigerator!! So if drinking an entire Mason jar in a day is not for you, no worries!!

Final thought if you love to Drink Coffee but don’t want to exceed 2 cups a day and still need an energy boost try:

A shot of Apple Cider Vinegar (make sure it has the “Mother” in it)

Ooo a morning routine to boost Energy seems to be floating in my brain.

Tell me how do you like your coffee???

  1. This is a really great article, and we like it black too. It does feel less acidic in the body, and agree that its great for those watching their dietary cholesterol (Chemex is another good option because of the thickness of the filter). One minor parry – it seems that the coffee gets quite bitter after a couple days. Not that it’s usually around that long. So we tend to not make more than a pint or so at a time.

  2. Thanks! We are lucky if this lasts 2 days around here, so haven’t noticed the bitter taste. But great point for those that don’t consume as much.

  3. I love it my friend check out my website
